An American Family in World War II on March 26 at 7 p.m.

The Library is sponsoring a reader's theater performance on Wednesday, March 26 at 7:00 p.m. in the large auditorium (room 343) of Boyd Science Center. This event is free and open to the public. Excerpts from the book An American Family in World War II, edited by Ralph L. Minker, Dr. Sandra O'Connell and Dr. Harry A. Butowksy will be read. Dr. O'Connell (class of 1962) will perform in the reader's theater along with members of the College community.

The book is a collection of more than 800 letters which tell the story of Ralph "Lee" Minker's war time service and that of his family as they watched and waited from a continent away. Lee's letters describe the rigors of pilot training in the U.S. Army Air Corps, culminating with the "Flying Fortress" that he would fly in combat. As part of the Mighty Eighth Air Force, the Minker crew flew its aircraft, The Blue Hen Chick, in a total of 37 combat missions during the air war over Nazi Germany.

Copies of An American Family in World War II are currently available for purchase at the campus bookstore. Additional information about the book and Dr. O'Connell can be obtained by visiting the web site An American Family in World War II.
